Where was the female Tony Soprano?
For Kelsi Lin d’Erlanger, acting and writing are two sides of the same coin.
After a decade in Hollywood, the American actor crossed the Atlantic to study Shakespeare at LAMDA.
Her love of acting, particularly the exploration of character, eventually led her to write her own scripts. She began creating the female roles she wished existed for herself to play.
The result? A growing slate of original, female-led stories, including Stan the Man, a mafia dark comedy with Kelsi attached to star, and He Exists (?), a romantic comedy series about a hopeless romantic trying to hold on to her belief in true love in Los Angeles.
She writes the women she wishes she could be a little more like in real life. Women who refuse to stay in their lane. Multifaceted women with heart, wit and fire. And a healthy disregard for the roles they’re expected to play.
Kelsi holds an MA in Screenwriting from Raindance Film School.
Off-screen, she applies much the same philosophy to life. Most recently, she founded the Moonlit Manuscripts Society. A London literary salon devoted to combining a few of her favorite things: books, wine and good company.
